The internet is loaded with testimonials, influencers, and marketers constantly trying to sell you supplements that do not work. The supplement industry is filled with products that are on either very poor science or sales pitches to sell you something that costs cents to make but is sold on expensive dollars.
Exogenous ketones took the world by storm when the ketogenic diet became popular. If anything, the modern reincarnation of the ketogenic diet was merely to sell exogenous ketone supplements at one point. Many people purchased these supplements in the hopes of losing weight faster or gaining results but the science has been slow to catch up the all the marketing claims of the companies or influencers selling these supplements.
In this double blind randomized placebo-controlled study(1), overweight or obese adults were given the same amount of calories to lose weight but in one group, the subjects were given 24 grams of BHB salts(exogenous ketones) and the other group was given a placebo for six weeks.
At the end of the study, there was no difference in the groups in body mass, total body fat, lean mass, mid-thigh cross-sectional area, visceral fat, and subcutaneous fat. In a nutshell, exogenous ketones neither enhanced nor made any substantial difference in body composition among individuals when compared to a ketogenic diet that produced endogenous ketones.
In other words, exogenous ketones have no advantage when it comes to fat loss or body composition.
Our product, Energy Pods, contains upwards of 7g of MCT oil per Energy Pod and this helps produce endogenous ketones which have been shown to have several therapeutic benefits compared to exogenous ketones. Additionally, Energy Pods, especially the Chocolate flavors, taste better than any chocolate bar in the market and are hence a much better investment than purchasing exogenous ketones which are inert when it comes to fat loss.
